The photo's above are of a vehicle inspected, the steering wheel we noticed that someone had cut out the airbag and stuffed the space with a piece of foam. They glued the cover so everything looked normal.
If you're driving a used car or had your own repaired at a body shop lately, you may be missing somethings, an airbags that works.
Police are calling fake airbags a growing scam. They estimate as many as one out of 25 cars that have been repaired has a fake airbag. There's no way to tell how many fake airbags are in the U.S. but police say it's a huge problem.
Fakes or dummy airbags are big business because new airbags cost so much, how much, $1,500 to $4,000 to replace.
We have seen steering wheel with airbags being stuffed with socks, beer cans, paper and also styrofoam.
